Tuesday 29th March 2022 –  walk Leader Linda

Exploring paths West of Stirling Castle.

6 mile circular walk, grade 1, 10.30 am Stirling.  I can go to Alva for 10 am if anyone needs a lift.

Walk starts and ends at Castleview Park & Ride car park (opposite River House restaurant). Park in the area on the right once you enter the car park.

Route takes us towards the River Forth, through the old Pru offices site picking up paths and tracks that will take us eventually to Kings Park. From there we head towards Stirling Castle, passing the King’s Knot (or cup and saucer as I’ve heard it referred to) returning to our starting point.

Tuesday 8th  March 2022

Paths are all reasonable and depending on the weather might be muddy in places. Meet in Alva 10am then head to Wallace Monument Visitor Centre car park for 10.30am. 5 miles approx. Grade 2 (if you include walk up to the monument).

Tuesday 25/6/2019 – EricH  Walk in Saline and Steelend –

We start at the car park on the right as you enter Saline next to the bus turning area.

We initially go up Saline Glen. On reaching the road opposite the golf course we have already gained some height (without really noticing it) so it makes sense to continue in a anti-clockwise direction round the golf course to Steelend and then to Killernie and Tullowhill back to the cars.

The distance is just under 4 miles and grade is nearer 1 than 1.5. This is now an afternoon walk – meet at Alva at 1.00pm, travel time 22mins

Tuesday 4/6/2019 Ann – Glenrothes walk

Our next walk will be led by Anne R
Glenrothes riverside  path

Tuesday 23/4/2019 – Les, Moncreiffe Hill

5 miles Grade 2 10:00 am at Alva

Tuesday 2/4/2019 – Merrill

Walk attached route – Muircot 2 Apr from Muircot Farm Shop through Melloch Wood, Lawmuir Wood across B9140 through Aberdona Mains to the Black Devon, by the edge of Gartmorn Reservoir and back to Coalsnaughton by Jamie’s Loan.  Route is ~10.3 KM.  Scouted route had a fence that must be climbed over but I found an alternative that doesn’t.  Route does have one long hill up from the Devon Trail back up to the B9140 crossing.  Current trail conditions are muddy in many places so keep an eye on the weather prior to the walk to decide on wellies or boots.

Depart: Alva at 10:00  Walk start: Park along Muircot Place (last left before Muircot Farm Shop entrance.)

Tuesday 19/2/2019  – EricH

4.5 miles Grade 1

Start point Tullibody Leisure Centre, Abercromby Place – Map ref 58: NS858948

Daunder round Dollar

Starting at the middle car park on Castle Road we head to Pitgober then past Dollar and along the Devon Way for about 0.7 miles before returning along the Back Road. Grade 1, 5 miles. I’ll leave my car at the lower end of Castle Road to give a lift back to the car park.
There is an option of a grade 2/3 option (4.5 miles) by omitting the Devon way loop, instead heading up the Dollar Glen to the Castle and down Castle Road to the car park.
10.00am at Alva

The Darn Walk (Bridge of Allan to Dunblane 2.75miles), so we would return the same route giving us 5.5miles. Grade 1, 10am at Alva

Banton Loch, Kilsyth

5th June 2018

Following the recce on Tuesday this week we decided to offer a shorter alternative to that shown on the programme, namely a 5 mile rather than a 7 mile walk, (still Grade 1). This will then give us time to visit the new cafe, the walled garden, etc in the Colzium Estate.
The walk starts near the entrance to the Colzium Estate which is a well-signposted turning off the A803 about 1.6 miles after Kelvinhead. After turning right off the main road take the first turn left and park adjacent to the old curling pond – map attached.
We walk alongside Banton Loch to Banton then follow the road to Kelvinhead and cross the main road to join the John Muir Way which follows the Forth & Clyde Canal.
If anyone wishes to do the 7 mile walk taking in the loop to the Marina at Auchinstarry this can be arranged.

Along the Forth and Clyde Canal to Banton Loch and the Colzium estate.
